Improvements in the Placement of the Data Logger

As of today, the light sensors (mainly the LDR, as well as auxiliary ones that are not used in the analysis) have been positioned facing north instead of south, in order to prevent the measurements from being affected by specific angles of sunlight that created “unnatural peaks” in the graph. This adjustment is also expected to increase the sensitivity in detecting variations throughout the day.

The air temperature also showed the same peaks, and with the addition of a reflective surface in the surrounding area, the graph for this sensor is expected to become smoother as well. The average values throughout the day are not affected, as the sampling rate is very high. However, on some days, the maximum value is briefly affected, which does not reflect reality and is instead higher. The “peaks” observed during the morning hours were the result of the sensors being directly exposed to sunlight.

The measurement of the hot water temperature is not affected at all, and it has remained very accurate since the beginning of the project.
